Naughty Pony

Pattern 'Naughty Pony' by Shelli and Kerry Robinson of SK Woodworks from the March 2005 CW&C. Cut on 1/8 inch BB with deft semi gloss spray, backer is aeromatic ceder with boiled linseed oil, frame is pine (I think) also with BLO. This was my first ever try at doing a frame.

Nicely done Ian! I especially like the detailing you put into the little girl's clothng and hat. S K Woodworks did a great job on the design and you sure brought it to life.

First time with a frame? Good job.

This is the second naughty pony, it was stack cut with the first one. Again cut on 1/8 inch BB but this time with minwax satin wipe on, backer is black felt, paint is watered down Anita's acrylic craft paint, frame is cherry with cherry stain and minwax gloss wipe on. This was my second frame, the're getting better.

Nice job. The painted version is a good change of pace as well. Your frames look good too! Did you use spirals only, or a mix of blade types?

No spirals here, still can't make 'em go straight!
I used Flying Dutchman - Scroll Reverse on these, probably a #3 or #5.
I did the paint thing on a whim. I'm not a tole painter, I just wanted to see what else I could do with the second cutting, and it turned out better than I thought.
