need input

Postby minoweive on Fri Nov 28, 2008 5:37 pm

Hi , I was wondering if there is any input on how to get this forum off the ground. I love this magazine, and I see so many veiwers, and not to many post. I am just wondering why. I am trying to learn how to post pictures. and I think that would really help. but there must be more. surly there is lots of things we could talk about. :P I know for me, I have leared so many things from the folks that contribute to this fine magazine, I am just confused why with so many veiwers that we can't get a conversation going. I check in most every day. I am not part of the magazine, but love to talk about scrolling, carving, wood, tools, finishs, etc. If anyone has anything that will help us." ME", I sure would appreciat it. I know I can't spell. but comon. I would love to talk about something. anything. woodworking. even how to make my pictures the right size. John has gone to lengths to tell us. but I still need help. how do I make my pixales to kbs. I tryed to follow the advice. but is there a better way. has anyone done some of the patterns from this magazine. I have seen them on other sights. why not hear. sorry I have seen a couple. but?? now :: I promise, I will relpy. sometimes it only take one or two, to get things started, then its a go. I see so many veiwers, you must have something to say. hopefully. you will respond. Im Evie.

Hey, Evie.
I really like the folks on this site. I sometimes wish there was more traffic here, also. On the Sroll Saw Woodworking and Crafts site, you can upload pictures pretty easily. On this site, you have to use a third party to post your pictures. I think that is a big draw to the other site. You'll find most folks here are also on the other site. Sometimes that other site gets too busy for me, so I come here to check things out. Well, I guess I'm here everyday. Time to see what else is happening here.

I remember buying my first copy of cw&c. It is the only one I get. I was doing carvings and other things with wood but I wanted to try something else and beacuse of cw&c I have found that with all of it put together I can make a piece of wood do whatever I want......I have been doing wood work for 14 years and now It is a living. It is what I do. That is why I have joined this site. To let others know that it can be done if you try......I learn something new everyday and hope to learn more. I am glad to have found a site with others who I can learn from and see the great projects they show.

From having my own wood forum to visiting about a dozen others, it's difficult to "get customers". As with all forums, there are many more "readers" than there are "posters". The folks around this site are numerous but not very talkative. I visit the site almost every day - that being said, I don't post every day. Never fear, we are here.

Thanks , DAn, Donnie, And Popsshop. I guess I will just have to keep hanging around . becouse for one thing I love to lear things also. I always wonted to work with wood. I worked around construcktion for years, but only as a helper gofer. I do other things also like quilting, Embroidery, and i love to garden. but mostly I love wood, and tools. since I received my scrollsaw,(HEGNER) I also at the same time received this magazine. and from there, found many other tools that I just can't do with out. I made my own shop this year, in a cargo container. How sweat that is. I do belong to other forums as well. and yes some are slow, and some have alot of folks. I find myself wonting to talk about the CWCTS magazine alot latly, so I thought why not go there and talk about what I love in the issues. thanks for your replys. Evie

As a regular contributor to this magazine I would also like to see more traffic through the forum. Perhaps asking the designers questions about the patterns or even making suggestions about the types of patterns you would like to see.
Since I am only part of the Intarsia portion it would also be nice to get questions and hopefully reply's from and for the other designers as well. I'm willing to help but we need input.

I also would like to see more "action" here. I consider myself a novice but sometimes I can contribute. As for the authors, getting them to respond here? Good luck. I tried to ask the Fowlers a question here back at least a year ago about their Madona and Child pattern. They had mentioned they had additional patterns to go with the scene but I never got a response. I tried going to their web site but that was no help.

I don't mean to be ranting, I'm sure there is a reason they did not respond but I was ready to buy and had no luck. Nothing worse than having money to spend and not being able to.

That said, I check here at least once a week and would love to see this forum take off.

Hi Evie.
Your spelling is just fine. No problem undertanding what you are typing.
I check out a number of sites on a regular basis including this one but there are just so many of them available and time for many of us does not allow us to get active on any more than we can keep up with along with our shop time .
Yes , I agree that it would be nice to see this site become more active.

Hi Evie!!
As you said it is a good magazine . but the forum is kind of dead. Which alot of them slow down this time of the year.
Ok I'll put my 2 cents in here:
Welcome thread for new members. (This starts things off a place for a new member say hey here I am gets them posting followed by others welcomeing them and answering any question they may have or directing them to the area they need.]
Place to add Events ( so they don't get lost in the other threads ).
Spelling Evie you must have the same keyboard as I have
Oh oh !!! story On Evie building her shop I seen picture of it HINT HINT editor

Hi
I had the same problem with size content and kept reduceing the size of photograph until it was within the upper limit to send, not sure :( :( if I could do it now (new to internet). I have some more projects that were from cw&c the only mag I get (when friends go to the States).
Good luck
