Gone Crazy

Welcome to this edition of Creative Woodworks & Crafts! You'll notice something unique about this issue—the two pattern sections are only printed on one side. While assembling the patterns, we realized that many of the designs were, on average, rather small; given that some of you have contacted us over the years requesting one-side-only pattern sections for ease of copying, we figured we'd implement that for this issue. This is not a new, regular format for us, just a one-time deal, and we hope it works for you. Feel free to weigh-in with your feedback about it.

Lettered Ring OrnamentJohn Polhemus worked very hard on his Lettered Ring Ornament (see page 22), which really turned out beautifully. It's been a while since John has given us a new project, and I think this one is very innovative and attractive. As always, we're grateful to all of our designers for their tireless efforts, as well as to you, our readers, for keeping our Readers’ Gallery section alive and well, and also for buying our magazine, whether through subscriptions or at the newsstand—thank you!

Many of you have been taking advantage of our "Back Issues Blowout," which basically offers great pricing for orders of five issues or more. This will allow you to fill in much of your back issue collection while saving considerable money. To access this sale, visit www.woodworksandcrafts.com and click on Back Issues, or call 1-800-595-5074 x143.

Finally, this issue also includes a two-page "Memorial" to Ray Wilckens, a dear friend and colleague who recently passed away. Many of you are undoubtedly familiar with Ray and Dan Wilckens' projects, which have appeared regularly in CWC since the mid 1990s. Out of love and respect for Ray, I'd like to dedicate this issue to him: Ray, this one's for you!

Correction: In our Readers’ Gallery write-up featuring Ron Jungels in the November ‘11 issue, we incorrectly attributed the pattern The Beginning of the Trail to Kathy Wise, rather than Judy Gale Roberts. We sincerely apologize to both of these amazingly talented pattern designers, and also to Mr. Jungels. Thank you to readers for bringing this to our attention.
